My work is based on duality- traditional yet contemporary, abstract yet figurative. Using traditional techniques, like pencil, oils, acrylic & collage, mixed media, I become contemporary. While observing nature I reduce the form to its basic structure, to what is important-the spiritual image of the physical form.
My works have been compared to Georgia O’Keefe and like O’Keefe I feel people don’t really take the time to look at flowers really. My flowers are the metaphor for my beliefs both social and cultural, the bee is my Muse.
Described by the language of colour and my instinctive approach, the works contain a deep sensuality. My work is a journey beyond the intellect into the realm of the spiritual and symbolizes the process of re-interpreting form. In my abstract paintings and sculptures I have discarded most traditional “rules” of painting application. I explore colours and consider the materials I use as one of the most important part of my paintings.
Therefore the journey of life has become a series of richly embedded textures and layered surfaces. My Images don’t give you the answer; they are the key that unlocks your imagination.
