Interview with C.P.B. Prasad

Posted by leedman on July 17, 2011

Prasad is a self-taught artist. You'll see the submitted piece of artwork and how calm it appears with bold colors and easy lines. Nature influences Prasad's inspiration. It's consistency over mankind a common thread.

DSC_7277.jpgTell me about the art you produce.

Have been doing paintings from young age. –Self Taught Artist.

Themes: Mostly landscapes and landscapes abstract. I have created more than 400 works of art.

(Oil on Canvas, Acrylic on Canvas/Paper, Water Colour, Oil on canvas, Mixed media, pencil, Pastels, Pen on paper).

Most of my paintings are landscape because I am nature lover. You see a tree will grow for 40 years ask nothing from you. Mostly my painting are calm.

Who are the artists that have influenced you the most and why?

Claude Monet is the artist i like. He created more than 2200 paintings, mostly landscapes.
Vincent VG is another artist i like. He was a committed artist, hardly sold anything. These is almost same for committed artists, they only create art they know how to sell. He created more than 700 works of art.

By looking at these artists, you very well know, when you are committed to your work, surely artists would create quality works on a long term.

What life experience has influenced you the most?

Well, too many, Many a times, when i was in school/college, the instructors would always say, you can come and ask anything you want, any time, even in my house. When we go to ask them some help, they did not have time. They only teach the students who pay money prevately.

Many a times when i am broke, fell more disgusted.

Many a time, some one cheats you, that too you own friend cheats you, than you feel bad about money.

Many a times you feel bad, when you borrow money from brother, father and mother and you dont have the money to return to them,   they are not asking back the money, but it is my duty to return. (I am sure i will repay all my debt before i die, i will alway repay more than i borrow).
Many a times, some how you arrange to frame your paintings and put of exhibitions, some time nothing sells. (Still you keep creating paintings -This is my life, i intent to leave my mark in this world by creating paintings either they sell or not)

Many a times you attend a workshop, and you learn one tip from the instructor, still you are happy, that you learned something on that day. (Art is something you keep learning every day).

How long have you been a professional artist?

Well many years.

What are your plans for your next project?

Well I have started two projects.

  1. Road Warriors -Series of pictures of people on the road, trying their best to make a living.
  2. Spiritual project -This will not end, this will go on till i die.

These is about places of worship. I want to create paintings of temple, churches and put them on PDF/internet, so people you have a look and choose to go and pray where ever they want in their own time. (You see, this are the only places where people are not thinking of bad things about others, they just pray).

What vision do you have for your future?

My long term vision is to create more than 3000+ quality paintings before i die.

Mostly i will have all this paintings images on the internet, and sell archival prints too, where this could last 100+ years and will be less expensive for art lovers.

Where are you holding your next exhibition?

Well I have enough paintings to last me for next 10 exhibitions. Mostly we could exhibit 20-25 in a solo show, just 4-5 in group shows. I intent to have solo show within this year in Venkatappa art gallery and museum. (I would love to hold show in other countries but my financial position does not permit me to do so).
