Posting Your (Images) to Arts, Artists, Artwork Fan Page

Posted by leedman on January 19, 2011

AAA_by_Edouard_Mortec.jpgVisiting a fan page you are presented with post a status update, upload a photo/video, and share a link. Most visitors new to facebook and concerned about privacy will often choose upload a photo, and wonder why their contribution looks different.

Then the question comes; is there a better way?

The Question

  • Is there a better way to "share" art then just by clicking on "photo" at the top of the page and adding a comment?

One of the best ways to show your artwork, photography, images, is through the use of photos you have uploaded into photo albums on your facebook profile and/or your fan page.

If your profile, be sure to make photos visible to everyone in your privacy settings. You can do this two ways

  1. all photos public and you manually change those you'd like private accordingly when you create it.
  2. Or vice versa, you can keep all photos private, and only create the public by overriding the settings when you create it.

Poke around, get familiar with your photo album and profile privacy settings, because it gives you an edge in showing off your work to curious eyes. Knowing what your options are and how you alter your approach to using it as a tool, you will get a lot out of it.

Get More Out of Sharing

So Posting to AAA now that you've got your own photo album and images online.

When you are on the page for your Photos on your profile, you are presented with a list of your photo albums. Right-clicking your mouse over any albums title will bring up a drop-down menu that will allow you to copy the link location.

In a new browser tab, visit the AAA page. Instead of uploading a photo, share a link. Click link, paste it in, then you can type your name when prompted to "say something about the link" and away you go.

In addition to copying a link of a photo album, you can go into the album itself and right-click any image to copy the link for that specific image. Either option, depends what you want to show off at any given time. A whole body of work? Or a single new updated item?

The advantage here is this. Sharing the link loads your image from your photo album with your titles and description text. You may have noticed that some people utilize the description text and include their website or fan page links, as well as details about the image. In other cases, they may show off a little muse.

As always, there are still countless ways to promote yourself here. This is the one I think you're looking to master right now.
