L´Alma
L´Alma is an interpretation of Jean d´Arc - the woman, who in medieval France challenged contemporary gender-roles. The painting is held in portrait style with coarse strokes of my brush for the cloting in the innocent colour of white, while the finely painted face conveys the inner world Jean felt.
Against the dark-brownish background the contrast of the clothing and face help to engage the viewer of the painting and adds to how differences shape our perception. Raw canvas as basic material to display the how basic and natural our strive for equality is.
