A photographer I am not. The image is crooked, but in reality, it’s not. This piece has been professionally framed. With glass. And it’s big. 32″x26″.
This piece began with my finding a sharpenable charcoal pencil! I never worked with charcoal bcz the sticks were big & imprecise. I like fine detail. Excited, I sketched a portrait of a model, then wondered what I could do with it. Some time passed. In my reading of conspiracy theories, I came upon the Skull N Bones clubhouse, which lent itself nicely to charcoal. To reflect the name of my subject, I painted a skull. And some ghost people, which I painted over, then I needed something to hide the paint-over, so in went the hand. Bottom corner empty…I wanted to paint a jewel, and why not a cherub. I submitted this for jury in a West Van dark-themed show about 10ish years ago, and I really can’t remember whether it was accepted or not.Get in touch
