I loved this staircase scene when I entered the the cafe at the Vancouver Art Gallery many years ago, so I photographed, then painted it – with a few simplifications – on an 8″x8″ canvas. The stairs seemed a little bare. What to add? Why not a vulture, from a friend’s holiday photos. A little incongruous, but….
