About Ewa Wallis

I grew up in the stunning Byron Bay hinterland, which founded a love of nature, and the landscape, developing an organic art style filled with colour and light. I began Life drawing classes from the age of 16, encouraged by my then art teacher, Diane. After High school I went on to study at the Sydney College of the Arts, and the National Art School in the early 90s. After completing studies, and taking part in various group exhibitions around Sydney, a period of volunteer work began. This was to go on for 20 years, involving murals, mosaics, totems and other art in the landscape projects for schools.

A love of design included several home, and landscape renovations in Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne, which is ongoing at the property in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria. I love to create something uniquely different, My renovation projects incorporate focal points to delight the observer, and draw people in. The last few years sees a return to painting, reflecting the beautiful Dandenong Ranges, and it’s gardens. Studying the seasonal colour, and ever-changing growth of this amazing region with thick, slow layering of paint until the image comes to life . Watching movement, shadows and colours, seeing shapes develop, and merge.

I record details from my life. People, animals, and birds, everyday moments.

Ideas are continuous and exploring them a day-to-day process.
To have others enjoy my work is an unlooked-for delight.
