About Paula Formanek Art
Paula started to paint in 2011 following an inspirational train trip across Canada. After retiring from her hydrogeology career in 2015 she had more time for painting. She applies thick oil paint often with a painting knife, exposing her heart and passion through expressive strokes of brilliant colour and sculpture-like texture, creating rich impasto artwork.
A lover of landscapes and flowers, she often ‘escapes’ from her studio to the outdoor to hike and paint – to see and ‘feel’ mother nature in all kinds of conditions and then capture her mood and beauty on canvas or birch panels. The focus of Paula’s paintings is the impression, passion and feelings experienced, rather than realism.
Paula sees art as a ‘vehicle’ for self-discovery, life enrichment, balance and healing. She’s on a mission to make the world a better place through her painterly artwork.
