‘Magnificence’ is an original 24 × 24 inch (61 × 61 cm) acrylic on canvas painting by Sara Bardin and is a unique artwork for sale.

Collector’s Insight

Where Enigma burns with crimson drama, Magnificence exhales. Bardin’s yellow iris is painted in soft, almost luminous tones — warm cream and pale gold at the edges of each petal, deepening toward olive and amber at the centre, with vivid orange-yellow tufts at the falls catching the light like small flames. Against the cool blue-grey ground, the bloom seems to generate its own light, the petals rendered with the same careful attention to vein and fold that characterises her practice.

The composition is more open and balanced than Enigma — the full form of the iris visible, the falls spreading generously to each side, the standards rising in full ruffled height above. The effect is generous and stately, a flower at its fullest moment, observed without sentimentality and painted with quiet authority.

At 24 × 24 inches it is the more intimate of the two works, but loses nothing in presence. A refined and beautifully resolved painting for collectors drawn to botanical close-up painting with a classical, Old Master quality of light.
