Hello everyone,

My name is Sandro Guerra, I currently live in Florida but I’m originally from Havana, Cuba. I am an artist with over 20 years of experience in this craft. I hold an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Arts and Design from Altos de Chavón in the Dominican Republic. After completing my studies there, I was awarded a full scholarship to pursue my Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at Parsons School of Design, The New School University in New York, which I successfully completed in 2003. Additionally, I took Sunday classes at Brooklyn College under the late modern American master Lennart Anderson. Following my time at Parsons, I continued my education in painting and drawing at the Art Students League for two years, studying under the tutelage of the late American portrait master Nelson Shanks, and briefly at Studio Incamminatti in Philadelphia.

I’ve had the honor of showcasing my work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in New York, Boston, and Geneva, Switzerland. For several years, I was also represented by Jay Kay Gallery in Geneva.

In addition, I have many years of teaching experience, mainly at Ribet Academy in Los Angeles, California.

My teaching and art philosophy is rooted in my experiences with Nelson Shanks and Lennart Anderson. I approach art as a method of inquiry, comparable to solving a mystery. My focus is on understanding the broader structure of the subject and developing the artwork in stages, moving from the most general to the finest details in the correct sequence. This methodology is not only applicable to art but also extends to subjects such as science and even life’s challenges.
